1924 Limited Edition Bourbon Barrel Aged Double Black Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
Tasting Notes
As the wine was aged in oak barrels used originally to age Bourbon whiskey, there is an immediate discernible sweetness of spirit on the palate. Followed by vanilla, smoky, toasty, oaky, blue/blackberry fruit and ripe soft tannins. A BIG WINE for BIG PEOPLE! The heart of the Prohibition in America was 1924 when it was illegal to consume alcohol including wine. It was also the year the winery first planted vineyards in California and farmed grapes that were sold to friends. The 1924 brand is owned by Gnarly Head, itself owned by the Delicato Family who had emigrated from Italy to America
Pairings
Best with food, including stir-fried and roast pork and chicken dishes (Tandoori too). Beef and steak. And braised and roast duck, and lamb dishes. Pairs very well also with braised doufu and mushroom dishes
