Grant Burge Barossa Ink Shiraz 2020
Tasting Notes
Inky red in colour. The fruit is just as inky deep, including super ripe plums, prunes and figs. Smothered by ripe, smooth tannins. The Burge Family planted their roots in the Barossa Valley as growers in the 1800s but in 1865, Meshach Burge installed fermenting tanks in one of his sheds to create the family’s own wines. Fifth-generation Grand Burge gave his name to the brand in 1988 which, today, is owned by Accolade Wines of South Australia, itself owned by the Carlyle Group, a private American equity company
Pairings
Enjoyable on its own and delicious with stir-fried and roast pork and chicken dishes (Tandoori too). Beef, steak, mutton and casseroles. And braised and roast duck, and lamb dishes. Pairs very well also with braised doufu and mushroom dishes
