Mid red colour. Fruit forward jammy, plum/prune/liquorice fruitiness backed by toasty tannins which are soft and smooth. Max Schubert (1915 – 1994) joined Penfolds when just 16 years young as a messenger boy. In 1948, at 33, he became Chief Winemaker. A position he held for 28 years until 1975
